Personal

What defines me beyond projects.

Why PS19?

Near Bensheim, in the vineyards, not far from the Kirchberghäuschen, there is a small garden. This is where I sometimes work on my laptop, surrounded by greenery. In good weather I sit outside under the trees, in the rain in a hut, with coffee from a camping stove and a view of the green. In this setting I can work with wonderful focus and be creative.

Not far from there is a spot on the hill with an incredible, almost all-round view over green forests and hills, and far out into the Rhine plain.

This is where I stood. In the summer of 2026. I looked into the distance and took in this amazing view. And a verse from the Bible struck me like lightning:

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.

[Psalm 19, free rendering]

With this flash of insight I realized how true that is, and how much beauty lies in creation. It was one of those moments you still remember years later.

In mediation and consulting there is something called “resource orientation”. It means focusing on what is good and what works, and steering the view away from what doesn’t work or what caused the problem. We do this because it lets us work so much better, because it is more motivating, than dwelling on what is lacking and imperfect.

And that is exactly how I want to work: taking in situations with foresight, always focused on the good and on the possibilities that are there. In the world, in creation and in every person.

Why I trained as a pastoral counselor

As a Christian, pastoral care is above all a service to my neighbor. With the Good Samaritan in mind, I see every person as valuable and loved by God. Regardless of nationality, worldview or gender.

Put simply, pastoral care cares for the soul. In the broadest sense it means support in shaping one’s own life and in dealing with challenges or suffering. For me, though, it always also means looking together at one’s own faith and reflecting together on one’s relationship with God.

I listen, have a good sense for emotions, needs and motivations, and I am very empathetic. In my own life I have been through a wide range of lows, so on many topics I can not only listen well but also understand a great deal. And being understood can do so much good.

A pastoral conversation can broaden one’s view of situations, people and challenges. Ideally, new paths open up that had gone unnoticed. If something is on your mind and you’re wondering whether to call me:
Do it! I look forward to your call or your email.

Away from the desk

I spend a lot of time in nature, take photographs (on film, too), dabble in electronic music, and my newest hobby is field recording.
